First Call for Papers
 
The Centre for Medieval Culture Studies
and
St.-Petersburg Society for Studies of Cultural Heritage of Nicholas of Cusa
 
are organizing
an International Conference with the topic:
 
"The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum”:
from Nicholas of Cusa through Nicholas Berdyaev".
 
We are planning to organize such sections and to discuss the following topics:
 
1.     Section I. The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” in the philosophy of Nicholas of Cusa
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and explicatio/complicatio Dei
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” as the unity of maximum and minimum
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and de docta ignorantia
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and rationi discurrenti
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and the School of Aristotle
2.     Section II. The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and the history of the European thought
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and Kant’s antinomies
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and the philosophy of identity of Schelling
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” andthe dialectical logic of Hegel
3.     Section 3. The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and the Russian philosophy
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and the philosophy of freedom of Nicholas Berdyaev
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and “Incomprehensibleness” of S.L. Frank
  • The Principle of “coincidentia oppositorum” and the history of dialectics (A.F. Losev).
The Conference will be at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of St.-Petersburg State University in 22-24 April of 2010. We invite to participation of all interested scientists! For the application, it is necessary to present an abstract (350-500 words) and author’s information no later than 1 December 2009. The papers will be published in the almanac "Verbum" after the Conference.

APPLICATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION:

To participate in the Conference you should send registration form and an abstract (350-500 words) in Russian, German or English. Registration forms should be sent to the Organizing Committee no later than 1 December 2009 (it is a real deadline). Participants should register and send texts of papers by E-mail. The Organizing Committee has rights to reject sent materials. We have to notice that regular mail from Europe to Russia normally takes about 2-3 weeks.

Registration fees for foreign participants:

60 Euro - for participants;
30 Euro - for students.

Registration fees should pay after arriving at St. Petersburg.
